About us
West Midlands (formerly Birmingham Heartlands) FCEM Course is a Mock Exam that was set up and continues to be run by practising Emergency Medicine Consultants in the West Midlands region.
We have been running this course twice a year since 2005 and each course is run a few weeks before the twice yearly diet of the FCEM exams. It is expected that candidates have prepared for the exams, before attending the course. This course is mainly a mock examination, with individual feedback on each section of the VIVAS (OSCE, Management and Academic section).
The experiences of the Faculty with trainees taking clinical OSCE style examinations led them to develop a formal course to help people who often struggle with this hurdle. In addition the course helps to identify weaknesses in trainees' technique for the management and appraisal components of the FCEM examination
